Finally. I GOT A JOB.
Yep. Â After 6 months of false hope, countless e-mails & applications…I got a job!
No…not with the Feds.  As you may recall, I was waiting for them to get back to me on my long-ago (this past March) interview. After what seemed like an eternity, the pharmacy manager finally called me and told me I didn’t get the tech job I’d interviewed for. Oh well. Such is life. But,  I was still pissed off that they made me wait nearly 3 months before letting me know.  Hell, if I’d never called & left a message about it, they probably wouldn’t have bothered to tell me at all.  So, it’s a good thing I moved on because…..
…the nice HR lady at the very well-respected, very busy iconic hospital mentioned in my previous post below, called me and scheduled me for an interview.
**Fast Forward to interview…..
I arrive at hospital a few minutes early. Â I am wearing black & white, which I feel is always a safe choice when it comes to interviews. Â I like how neat and professional that combination looks. Â So, it was black slacks, with a black and white print sheer-georgette blouse over a black camisole.
I also remembered to remove my eyebrow ring→
Just in case.
Anyway, the interview went swimmingly, as they always seem to do.  First, the HR lady gives me an overview of the job position, pay, hours, etc. Then she  directs me to an interview with the interim General Manager.
Strangely enough, the interim guy is from Texas, and worked for my former company there, so he knows all about LTC techs and how we work. He really seemed to like me, and gave me his cell# in case I had any questions. And then?  I went home feeling hopeful, but not too.
So.. I call the following week and leave a message with him..asking  about when I might be notified either way, etc…only because I didn’t want to relive the Fed nightmare.
He called me back an hour later. He said that since I want full-time, I have a good chance of being taken off the registry and given a permanent position. No guarantees, but they often hire off the registry first.
He said they were doing the background checks, and that I should know for sure in a few days. He said he’d get back to me.  I thanked him & hung up.
**The very next day…..
I’m rolling around in bed with my guy, and my cell rings. Â Now, ordinarily, I would ignore the phone, because NO call is worth interrupting awesome sex, but…since I’m in desperate need of a job, I glance at the phone and yelp: “IT’S THE HOSPITAL !!”
I push my guy off me and breathlessly take the call. Â (He understood, of course)
It’s the GM calling.
He says:Â “I talked to HR today…the background checks should be completed in a couple of days.” If everything comes out ok (which it did..I am as clean as a whistle, of course), he tells me HR will be calling to offer me the position.
**Fast forward to this past Tuesday…
I get a call from the HR lady.  She offers me the job.  I accept. She  congratulates me.  I am outwardly calm..but inside, I’m flipping out.  She then transfers me to Occupational Health so they can set up the appointment for my physical & drug screen.  So.  That’s it.
Even though it’s registry (basically part-time, no benefits)I feel blessed to actually have some kind of employment in such troubled, trying times. Â So, I’ll try to make the very best of it.
**And for any techs out there who might be reading, being certified provided me with more consideration than an uncertified tech. So, yes, people..certification matters!!!

Well said… Great information, keep up the great work!
